CTIA’s TZM Alloy Crucible

1. What's TZM Alloy Crucible?
TZM Alloy Crucible (Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum Alloy Crucible) is high-temperature vacuum container made from molybdenum-based alloy, with molybdenum as the matrix and titanium (Ti), zirconium (Zr), and carbon (C) additions forming TiC and ZrC strengthening phases. The crucible is manufactured through powder metallurgy and precision machining processes. CTIA’s TZM alloy crucible is mainly used for material melting, crystal growth, powder sintering, heat treatment, and other high-temperature industrial and research processes.
2. Advantages of CTIA’s TZM Alloy Crucible
(1) Higher high-temperature strength: Compared with pure molybdenum crucibles, TZM improves high-temperature load-bearing capability through TiC and ZrC strengthening phases, maintaining better mechanical strength at elevated temperatures and reducing softening and deformation risks.
(2) Superior creep resistance: Strengthening phases stabilize the molybdenum-based microstructure, suppress grain growth and creep deformation during long-term high-temperature operation, and improve crucible structural stability.
(3) Enhanced deformation resistance: Better dimensional retention under continuous heating and thermal cycling conditions reduces deformation and failure caused by high-temperature softening.
(4) Improved high-temperature stability: With a melting point of approximately 2620°C and a higher recrystallization temperature than pure molybdenum, TZM alloy is suitable for more demanding high-temperature environments.
(5) Longer service life: Compared with pure molybdenum crucibles, TZM crucibles provide higher hardness, high-temperature strength, and heat resistance, reducing replacement frequency and improving equipment operating stability.
3. Applications of CTIA’s TZM Alloy Crucible
CTIA’s TZM alloy crucible is used in:
(1) Sapphire crystal and other high-temperature crystal growth processes requiring structural stability during long-term high-temperature operation;
(2) Melting of rare earth metals, precious metals, and highly active metals under vacuum or protective atmospheres;
(3) Powder metallurgy material sintering and high-temperature powder processing;
(4) Vacuum high-temperature furnaces and heat treatment equipment for high-temperature heating, holding, and processing;
(5) Research experiments and special material preparation involving high-temperature melting and heat treatment.
