TZM alloy (Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum) in seamless steel pipe hot piercing refers to TZM alloy piercing plug, which is a high-temperature metal forming tool component used in piercing machines on hot-rolled seamless steel pipe production lines. During processes such as rotary piercing and Mannesmann piercing, TZM piercing plug is positioned at the center of the heated billet and completes metal piercing through rotary rolling and axial feeding, while withstanding complex operating conditions including high temperature, high pressure, severe friction, and thermal shock.
CTIA’s TZM piercing plug uses molybdenum (Mo) as the matrix, with titanium (Ti: 0.40%–0.55%), zirconium (Zr: 0.06%–0.12%), and carbon (C: 0.01%–0.04%) additions to form TiC and ZrC dispersion-strengthened phases. These strengthening phases effectively improve high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and microstructural stability.
