CTIA's TZM Alloy in Vacuum Furnace

TZM Alloy Picture

TZM alloy in vacuum furnace refers to titanium zirconium molybdenum alloy material used in high-temperature vacuum environments, mainly applied to high-temperature structural components in vacuum sintering furnaces, vacuum heat treatment furnaces, hot pressing furnaces, and other equipment. Since vacuum high-temperature furnaces operate under high temperature, low pressure, and thermal cycling conditions for extended periods, furnace materials require excellent high-temperature strength, creep resistance, dimensional stability, and low volatility.

CTIA’s TZM alloy uses molybdenum (Mo) as the matrix with titanium (Ti), zirconium (Zr), and carbon (C) additions to form TiC and ZrC dispersion-strengthened phases. Manufactured through powder metallurgy processes including raw material control, uniform powder mixing, compaction, high-temperature sintering, and precision machining, the material achieves stable microstructure and reliable high-temperature performance. With excellent heat resistance and long-term service stability, TZM alloy is widely used in vacuum furnaces for load-bearing plates, support components, heat shield components, connecting parts, and other high-temperature structural components.

Characteristics of CTIA’s TZM Alloy
To meet the requirements of vacuum high-temperature furnaces for material purity, stability, and reliability, CTIA’s TZM alloy features:

(1) Excellent High-Temperature Strength
With a melting point of approximately 2620°C, it maintains high strength in high-temperature vacuum environments and withstands the weight of furnace loads and long-term thermal stress.

(2) Excellent Creep Resistance
It provides excellent resistance to high-temperature creep, reducing plastic deformation caused by long-term thermal stress and improving the dimensional stability and service reliability of structural components in vacuum furnaces.

(3) High Recrystallization Temperature
With a recrystallization temperature of approximately 1350–1450°C, it delays grain coarsening during high-temperature service and maintains structural stability.

(4) Excellent Thermal Cycling Performance
With a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 5.5–5.9×10⁻⁶/K, it adapts to repeated heating and cooling cycles in vacuum furnaces, reducing the risk of deformation and cracking caused by thermal stress.

(5) Good Vacuum Compatibility
With low vapor pressure and excellent high-temperature stability, it minimizes contamination in vacuum environments and is suitable for high-temperature processes requiring high cleanliness.

Applications of CTIA’s TZM Alloy in Vacuum Furnace
CTIA’s TZM alloy is mainly used for critical high-temperature structural components in vacuum furnaces, including:

(1) Vacuum Sintering Furnace
Used for furnace supports, load-bearing plates, and fixing components to meet load requirements during high-temperature sintering processes.

(2) Vacuum Heat Treatment Furnace
Used for workpiece supports, trays, and structural connectors to improve long-term high-temperature operating stability.

(3) Hot Pressing Furnace
Used for high-temperature load-bearing components exposed to thermal cycling and mechanical pressure.

(4) High-Temperature Laboratory Furnace
Used for support structures and functional components in experimental equipment requiring reliable performance under precision high-temperature conditions.
