CTIA’s TZM Alloy in X-Ray Rotating Anode Axis

TZM Alloy Picture

CTIA’s TZM alloy (Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum) is manufactured through powder metallurgy processes, using high-purity molybdenum powder as the matrix with titanium (Ti: 0.40–0.55%), zirconium (Zr: 0.06–0.12%), and carbon (C: 0.01–0.04%) additions to form TiC and ZrC dispersion-strengthened phases. The molybdenum alloy provides good high-temperature strength, creep resistance, dimensional stability, and vacuum compatibility, making it suitable for rotating anode axis and related high-temperature vacuum components in X-ray tubes. It meets performance requirements under high-speed rotation and elevated temperature conditions and is widely used in medical imaging, industrial non-destructive testing, and scientific analysis applications.

Advantages of CTIA’s TZM Alloy in X-Ray Rotating Anode Axis
The rotating anode axis must withstand centrifugal forces, thermal loads, and periodic stresses generated by high-speed rotation in a vacuum environment. This places high demands on the material’s mechanical strength, structural stability, and long-term reliability. CTIA’s TZM alloy meets these requirements with its excellent comprehensive properties. Specific advantages include:
(1) High-Temperature Strength
Maintains structural stability under thermal and mechanical loads generated during high-speed anode rotation.
(2) Excellent Creep Resistance
Reduces dimensional changes during long-term high-temperature operation, improving rotation accuracy and reliability.
(3) Good Dimensional Stability
Minimizes temperature-induced dimensional variation through a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 5.5–5.9×10⁻⁶/K, improving system stability.
(4) Reliable Vacuum Compatibility
Provides low volatility and stable high-temperature performance for X-ray tube vacuum environments.
(5) Precision Machining Capability
Supports precision machining according to X-ray tube structures, meeting complex rotating anode axis geometries and dimensional accuracy requirements.

Applications of CTIA’s TZM Alloy in X-Ray Rotating Anode Axis
(1) Medical X-Ray Equipment
Used for the rotating anode axis and related connecting components in CT and X-ray diagnostic systems.
(2) Industrial Inspection Equipment
Used for high-temperature rotating structural components in industrial X-ray inspection systems to improve operational stability.
(3) Scientific Analysis Equipment
Used for rotating anode axis assemblies in high-performance X-ray sources, supporting precision analysis applications.
(4) X-Ray Tube Components
Used for the anode axis and other high-temperature vacuum components under high-speed rotation, elevated temperature, and vacuum conditions.
