CTIA's TZM Alloy in Hot Forming Dies

TZM alloy (Titanium Zirconium Molybdenum) is a high-performance molybdenum-based alloy with molybdenum (Mo) as the matrix and titanium (Ti: 0.40%–0.55%), zirconium (Zr: 0.06%–0.12%), and carbon (C: 0.01%–0.04%) additions forming TiC and ZrC dispersion-strengthened phases. CTIA manufactures customized TZM components for hot forming dies through powder metallurgy (PM), including cold isostatic pressing, high-temperature vacuum sintering, hot forging, and precision CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining. With a recrystallization temperature approximately 400°C higher than pure molybdenum and excellent high-temperature stability, TZM alloy is particularly suitable for critical load-bearing components in hot forming dies.
1. Advantages of CTIA’s TZM Alloy in Hot Forming Dies
(1) Excellent high-temperature strength: Withstand high-temperature loads and continuous pressure during hot forming processes, with a tensile strength of ≥200MPa at 1200°C.
(2) Outstanding creep resistance: Maintain dimensional stability during long-term high-temperature operation, with a low creep rate at 1000°C under 10MPa.
(3) High hardness and wear resistance: Provide excellent wear resistance at elevated temperatures and extend component service life, with a room-temperature Vickers hardness of HV≥220.
(4) Excellent dimensional stability: Maintain high precision after repeated thermal cycling, with a coefficient of thermal expansion of approximately 5.0×10⁻⁶/K.
(5) Good thermal conductivity and thermal shock resistance: Adapt to rapid heating and cooling conditions, with thermal conductivity of 120–140W/(m·K).
(6) High customization flexibility: Support complex structures, thin-wall components, and high-precision fitting requirements for customized die components.
